Continuing my exploration of the Checkmate contested zone, I ran into a group that was predictably unhappy to see me. Upon waking up in the hospital, I decided to head back and see if I could recover my kit. The group that took me down was apparently in such a rush to get to through the red supervisor door, while they were looting they accidentally swapped their backpack with mine. The backpack they left behind included some snacks, LMG ammo, and the red supervisor card they were planning on using. Lucky me.

After storing the card, I decided to try to sneak up on them and negotiate. I thought I had found them further in without them noticing me so I tried communicating over text. Turns out they had realized shortly after I lifted their card their mistake and left the CZ, so this was an entirely different group I was stalking. While narrowly avoiding the second group, we negotiated a place to meet, the local bar. After talking at the bar, I was feeling generous so I only charged 50,000 UEC for the card. They happily paid, making me think I should’ve charged more. Right after that deal, someone else started asking if anyone was selling Crypt keys. I think there’s a potential market in card sales.
